About the owner
When I chose accounting in my final year of school, my path seemed mapped out: study hard, qualify, climb the corporate ladder. And for many years, that’s exactly what I did—long hours, big goals, and steady promotions. I even dreamed of joining the Gates Foundation, using data and analytics to impact Africa.
But along the way, I began to feel the weight of expectations—what success should look like, the car I should drive, the house I should buy, the role I should hold. So I paused, took a sabbatical in Europe, and rediscovered a truth: while I loved using my analytical skills, I needed to set boundaries and define success on my own terms.
God’s favour opened incredible doors: from Edcon to Makro, and later Massmart. I thrived, poured myself into my teams, and built a career I loved. Entrepreneurship was never on my radar.
Then came motherhood, COVID, and a move from Johannesburg to Langebaan. I tried to balance remote work and family, praying for another finance job closer to home. I sent countless CVs but heard nothing. I questioned my worth, wrestled with God, and pleaded for direction.
Then, in January 2024, an unexpected word drifted across my heart: Kombucha. Just that. A whisper from God. I remembered brewing it once before, and within hours, my analytical brain was mapping possibilities. Excitement rose. I knew this wasn’t my idea—it was His.
Two weeks later, I resigned. With absolute guts and faith, we named the business Gutsy Culture—because it takes courage to follow God’s call. And because kombucha, a natural probiotic, brings healing to the gut and clarity to the mind.
In this new chapter, Colossians 3:23 anchors me: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Gutsy Culture isn’t just a kombucha brand. It’s a Kingdom business—rooted in faith, courage and the belief that true health flows from living God’s way.
